About Us
The Stricto Sensu Program in Integrated Dentistry Sciences of UNIC aims the graduate formation with a humanistic and social vision of the Brazilian reality, with didactics teaching and research experience so that they can be managers and influencers of practices transformation in health. The future graduate student will be able to develop the teaching activity, based on scientific and ethical parameters that contribute to the formation of responsible professionals and aware of the Brazilian population’s need. In parallel with the training aspect of human resources, the course emphasizes tasks facing the realization of dissertations, research activities and publications of scientific articles and dissemination with a focus on research projects that aim at positive practices transformation.

Fields of Research
Dentistry (Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy)
This concentration area aims the professionals formation with a critical, reflective, humanistic and social vision of the Brazilian reality mainly related to SUS, enabling him or her to teaching and research with a view to improve these practices. Researches are performed in different dentistry specialties with a focus on those which require direct action on issues involving practical application. The future master/PhD is able to disseminate concepts based on scientific evidence through the development of dissertation projects geared to the positive transformation of these practices.
Bioscience (Master of Science)
This concentration area aims the professionals formation that add to a practical experience a multidisciplinary vision connecting Dentistry to others health areas and biological science. Added to this, it enables this professional critical, reflective, humanistic and social analyzes of realities in Brazil mainly related to SUS, enabling the teaching and research with a view to improve these practices. In this area, studies integrating the dentistry to other health areas are performed with views to solve and improve, through scientific methodized research, issues that may enhance existing practices or deploy new practices. The future master is able to disseminate concepts of integrated approach in the areas of health, based on scientific evidence through the development of the dissertation projects geared to the creation and improvement of integrative practices with a multidisciplinary approach. The area can be characterized by the commitment to the formation and training of human resources in the strict sense, considering the needs and regional demands, which allows improvements and enhancement in the dentistry teaching and its muldisciplinary contextualization within a broader context in the health area. This concentration area is contemplated for all professionals in the health area, including dentists.
Research Topics
Research Topic 1: Pathophysiological and therapeutic aspects of orofacial alterations (Master and Doctoral degrees)
This research line aims to evaluate the pathophysiological mechanisms of diseases or injuries that affect the stomatognathic system in order to understand their onsets and evolutions. In this research line experimental investigations are carried out which can contribute to the knowledge of temporomandibular disorders, parafunctions and occlusion disorders.
Research Topic 2: Research, Development and Evaluation of drugs, techniques and innovations in the health area (Master and Doctoral degrees)
This research line aims the development and evaluation of new drugs, techniques and innovations with an effective application or potential in the health professional practice. In this research line, investigations are carried out with focus on physico-chemical, biological, therapeutic and diagnostic proprieties.
